We recovered a 12’6 hollow cedar sup – built in 2014 and retrofitted in 2022 with painted foam and fiberglass side rails.

The build-out added 8 inches of width to board and more weight with an new layer of glass cloth over the bottom and sides. The heavier than average weight came as a bit of a concern after the retrofit. Upon taking the board out for a demo paddle, we found that the weight and new shape was an advantage in the wind & waves –

With + 8 inches of width and 70/30 side rails combined with an extra few pounds make for an extremely stable board. Excellent lateral stability doesn’t get tossed around by waves.

A bit heavy to carry but very safe & comfortable on the water. A great option for winter paddling and windy & wavy conditions.
